meditation 5

So I was doing breathing meditation and I received a nightmare?

What does this mean ? I did it for 5 minutes .
should I have done it longer ?

Are you having “night terrors”? Like really bad nightmares that takes awhile before you can really calm down or/and after the dream you gasp for air, shakes and cold sweat? “Night terrors” are like panic attacks that happen when you are asleep.
Relaxation techniques like, breathing exercises, are helpful because they release a lot of stress and relax your mind so that you go to sleep with a calm mind, which gives you a peaceful night sleep. But five minutes daily is not enough, you need more like 15 minutes daily.I know that it sounds like a lot, but you can mix it up a little with progressive visual relaxation and breathing techniques. Here’s an excellent college website that has links to meditation exercises and had free legal downloads called “Relax with Steve” and “Relax with Bonnie”. The “steve” one is breathing and relaxing muscles and Bonnie is more visualization.

Also you might want to cut the amount of caffeine that you take in, try not to use your computer or watch tv before sleeping and have a nice warm bath before sleep. A bubble bath with Lavender relaxes you a whole lot, trust me.
If you continue to have “night terror” and losing sleep, you might want to talk to your doctor about, so that maybe he will give some some sleeping aids.
Good luck and I hope this has been helpful:)
