What artist/music would you recommend for active meditation/ breathwork?

I am looking for music with a heavy drum emphasis and and a tribal feel to it. I want it to stir up deep emotions and move the soul. That being said, feel free to suggest anything.

www.intunewithspirit.com i clicked the itunes button and they have a free radio station with lots of native american music on it, i like listening to that a lot

aqueous transmission by incubus is very relaxing, but doesn’t have drum/tribal emphasis

Have you taken philosophy or studied it independently?

And if so, what books did you read? Who did you listen to? If it’s more of a personal interest, what helped you through the books to gain some understanding of their meaning? I can read the texts and get a meaning. But I also get the feeling that I’m missing what is really being said. I’m looking for any sort of resource that might help me understand this difficult branch of knowledge better.
Especially of interest to me are “The Trial and Death of Socrates” dialogues, Cicero’s “On the Good Life”, Descartes “Meditations On First Philosophy”, Heidegger’s “Discourse On Thinking”, Aristotle’s “MetaPhysics” and anything that discusses these. Whether it be webpage, audio file(podcast), book or even the name of someone who could help, any input you could add is greatly appreciated.
But before it is suggested, let me say that I have already taken an intro to philosophy class. And it was a failure as far as understanding is concerned.

Both, actually. For a really good intro to philosophy, I would suggest A couple of Mortimer Adler’s books. “Aristotle for Everyone,” “Six Great Ideas,” and “Ten Philosophical Mistakes.” After that, there is a series of books available at Borders, etc., called VLIs. It stands for Very Little Introduction. They give a pretty good introduction to a wide variety of subjects. After all of that, you should be pretty well prepped for any source text you want to read,

Can anyone recommend a good meditation tape or machine?

Where did it take?

if ur looking for a way releave relax and stress, it is preferable to u naturally. I recommend u against the use of machines, tapes, pills or other artificial means others. instead, why do not u try yoga, meditation in a park (or any other form of nature close to u. .. the more "natural" it is, the better!), Walking in the beautiful light days or even enjoying a sunset good alone or with the company (be sure to do not have company very talkative in this case)? of course, correct breathing ur method can also do wonders in meditation. the average Hindu breathing monk inhales and exhales after 15 seconds. Then he exhales and takes 10 seconds before taking another breath. as weird as it may seem impossible to some people, it works beautifully, not only for the State phychological heart, but also helps to speed up ur metabolism and the perfect heart bodily functions (such as digestion and others). Monks believe that people are born with a specific amount of breath. according to their beliefs, our life ends a Once we use up our last breath. so the longer the pause between each breath, the breath will have at least a total at the end of the day, the leaving with a greater number of days to live long term. u do not believe this theory about breathing, but seriously, breathing slowly u aid may be calmer! but it might take some time to get used to change if ur used for breathing short and shallow. Is a Another case where "practice makes perfect." I therefore wish u the best of luck and meditation happy!

How do I find my Spirit Guide?

Ok so I read an article about it and did some research online. I tried it all: meditation, breathing, mp3s to help…..NOTHING IS WORKING!! Where is my spirit guide, and how do I contact them successfully? And if you’re just gonna reply “you’re crazy” save your energy.

Hello Pinkie

You don’t have one guide – you have many.

I help others to meet guides & it sounds to me that you are trying too hard. Impatience can halt development when we want it the most. You focus too hard on an area that is not yet ready to unfold, missing the other areas that you need to develop first. You may even have a subconscious block.

Maybe you need to develop other parts of your psychic nature before you try again? Maybe you need to understand how it is when you have conscious guidance from spirit?

Remember this – You are spirit yourself. They are there & when the time is ready, you ‘may’ meet one of your guides.

Pam
