mind power

What power does the brain / mind have on cells?

Does the brain (or mind, whatever you want to call it) has power over cells our body? Can you change the way we do and replace each other, or change the way we look?

The term "mind" is soft. I do not believe there is agreement on the definition used by biologists and neuroscientists. The brain is a complex organ that can regulate many other systems organ, either by the chains of neurons that enervate different tissues (cause muscles to contract). Electrical impulses are sent by neurons that signal chemical release at synapses to communicate with another neuron or muscle. Other ways the brain communicates with other cells is through the release of hormones in the bloodstream. Hormones may change the activity of the digestive system (never start salivating in anticipation of food? Just the idea of eating is enough to release more saliva and start pumping protons from the stomach and digestive enzymes. In an unconscious way, the brain can change how cells grow. During puberty, many hormones return signals to initiate cell division and differentiation in the sexual organs mature. hormonal signals the brain play a role in the regulation of menstruation involves the growth of uterine lining and egg maturation in the ovary. signals of the hormone in anticipation of sex, can make facial hair grow faster. However, you may not want anything to grow. Most of these signals are not under conscious control.

What’s a good book to read about meditation?

Something for noobs. I know nothing about meditation, how it’s done, it’s purpose, the different methods, etc.

I’m not even sure I wanna get into this. But what’s a good book to give me an idea to what meditation is all about?

I’m not sure of any titles offhand, but there really isn’t much to it.

Sit, close the eyes, and shut out the outside world completely. Force yourself to remain in a state of thoughtlessness, simply in a state of existence, without sensory data, without thoughts or scenerios.
Focusing on the rhythm of your breathing or on a single point on the back of your eye lids helps.

You’re mind will try to continually distract you with new thoughts and such, do not entertain them, let them pass through you like water. Observe the chaos in your own mind, see how it tries to constantly fool you, how it constantly tries to beckon you to connect with the world. But yet without the world, without thoughts, motions, gestures, scents, sounds and feelings… you are here. now.

Good luck. It takes a lot of discipline at first. Keep at it.

meditation for stress

that meditation is the definitive solution for the relief of stress and health problems?

I think they are so.however views others.

Meditation can be extremely helpful both physically and mentally - and it is scientifically proven. But sometimes, in cases serious things like depression can not be resolved without medication. In addition, psychotic disorders (such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia) can be solved with meditation alone. I think that meditation - with a good diet, exercise and any peaceful way of life around - will you make a much better place than most people today.

Was it possible to do meditation every day?

I once tried to be aware of my breath for any Day 1 and that day I felt very calm and I treated my friends better. Is it goes well if I am aware of my breathing to my life as I treat people better?

Awareness of breathing is one of the methods by which meditation, but that itself can not be considered as meditation. It can be called "concentration to be more precise, meditation is a" mindless state. "Concentration is "stream of thought on one subject" Meditation is a fall, as the single thought. According to different scripts yoga, 12 minutes lead concentration meditation 12 minutes of meditation can lead to samadhi.

how to learn meditation

how to learn meditation
how to learn meditation
any one have learn trascendental meditation technique?

Hello and thanks for reading my question!
I am very interested in learning the TM technique and I have read all about it on the web…my only concern is the cost of the course, it is 2000 USD; first I do not have this amount of money to pay for it second does the benefits really compensate the investment?
Does anyone know how can I learn from a CD or a book or other source less expensive? The teachers are very protective of the information and they say the only way of learning is a one to one class, I am very motivated to learn and also the TMCD advance course but I am from south America came to the US just to study, I do not work and financial recourses are limited at the moment : )
Please can any one help???

There is nothing to learn in TM. The only difference between TM and regular meditation is that the “guru” whispers a word in your ear which you are supposed to repeat when you do TM…that is the one to one. You will get the same benefit if you do regular meditiation and that is free.

I took TM back in 1979. I practiced it for a while and found no extra benefits. Luckily it was just starting around that time and it was cheap. I feel that it is a gimmick to capture the Westerners into thinking that they are into a exotic culture.

Then again, it is your money.

creative meditation

creative meditation
creative meditation
Anxiety and how to deal with it. I’ve been crawling in my skin for over 2 years now. Any creative ideas?

I’ve tried exercise, guided meditation, eliminating caffeine and simple sugars, anti-depressants prescribed by a psychiatrist to no avail.
Any fresh new ideas out there? Holistic meds, diet supplements, etc?
I didn’t like the meds at all so we discontinued their use about 6 months ago.
Anxiety and nervousness are one end of my issue, severe sadness and crying are at the other end.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Try to start overcoming your fears. This is very important, as it allows you to retrain your mind into letting you again believe that there isn’t a danger in going to the mall, or driving a car. You have told your mind that these things are putting your body in danger, and your body is reacting to the threat. But really, there is not a threat at the time, your mind is tricking your body. If, for instance, there was a real threat then your body would respond as necessary. This is what our bodies are designed to do.

One of the most effective methods used is deep breathing. The following exercise will physically, and mentally calm you.
Start out by breathing through your nose for a slow 3 count
Then hold your breath for a slow 3 count
And then exhale for a slow 3 count. You can do this as long as you want. It really helps.

Good luck.
