Is Vipassana meditation safe?

I'm interested in doing a training day Vipassana-10 during a retreat (Those managed by SN Goenka) in the near future. I searched for months on the internet about retirement and there seems to be a lot of comments positive people who have attended. If theres been more positive than negative comments, I am little worried about what was written on a certain site Web (vipassana-cult.com - I think). Although I am fairly confident it is not a cult, people have been reported to have experienced hallucinations and various psychological problems after witnessing one of the courses. What I want to know is vipassana is suitable for everyone? There evidence vipassana as links with psychological problems? I'm fairly new to meditation. The technique I use is actually just the observation respiration. That said, however, represses emotions, I would like to try Vipassana (which does not suppress emotions) - provided it is safe.

It depends on your teacher. If he (or she) is duly qualified, then you should be fine. If in doubt, ask your teacher about his lineage, including his guru and paramguru. If he can not answer that question to your satisfaction, performance.

baseball training, which one is more important?

what do you believe is more important to having successful baseball career, the mental training (ex. meditation/ concentrating on breathing) or taking infield reps?
take note.. I still take a lot of reps and I can make plays like ones on top 10 web gems.. But on easier plays like grounders right at you a lot goes through my head and when I am completely relaxed and play effortlessly I make those plays. So take hundreds more reps a day? or take more time during the day to work on breathing techniques?
Thanks for the help.

Neither is more important than the other. To be an effecitve ball player you need the conditioning and skill to make tough plays, but you cant let anything affect you while your on the field. You can take as many reps as you want, but having the right mindset to perform on the field is equally important.
