Is Vipassana meditation safe?

I'm interested in doing a training day Vipassana-10 during a retreat (Those managed by SN Goenka) in the near future. I searched for months on the internet about retirement and there seems to be a lot of comments positive people who have attended. If theres been more positive than negative comments, I am little worried about what was written on a certain site Web (vipassana-cult.com - I think). Although I am fairly confident it is not a cult, people have been reported to have experienced hallucinations and various psychological problems after witnessing one of the courses. What I want to know is vipassana is suitable for everyone? There evidence vipassana as links with psychological problems? I'm fairly new to meditation. The technique I use is actually just the observation respiration. That said, however, represses emotions, I would like to try Vipassana (which does not suppress emotions) - provided it is safe.

It depends on your teacher. If he (or she) is duly qualified, then you should be fine. If in doubt, ask your teacher about his lineage, including his guru and paramguru. If he can not answer that question to your satisfaction, performance.

Looking for a meditation retreat in India?

I'm looking for a meditation retreat in India or Tibet, which lasts between 10 - 30 days. Vipassana, Buddhist, .. anything simple, vegetarian, non-commercial, non-tourist, cheap, perhaps in a monastery work exchange for accommodation. Has there been a retreat of this kind?

The homestay retreat in Kerala in India is mundax great. Very quiet in the green valleys in addition to its very close to the wildlife reserve. It is ideal for those who remain in the brain during some time

International Martial Arts Center.?

What do you think of International Martial Arts Center where they teach you Tea Kwan Do, Hapkido and Sun Do (Breathing Meditation) should one take the school instead or Aikido?

My son did Aikido for a short time and it’s an art whereby you use a jo (wooden cane) and doesn’t really involve punches or kicks but rather throwing your opponent about. But it’s not as rough or as violent as the other 3, so I would stick with Aikido.

theravada meditation

Are people climbing a mountain for the peak of enlightenment, or are they already there but just unaware?

Eg. Theravada loving-kindness meditation seems hard because you have to work yourself up to having loving kindness to all beings, as you start from the bottom/nothing to try cultivate it. The opposite methods- like that of Papaji/Gangaji- say you already have that full loving-kindness for all beings naturally, so let your natural heart shine- like the sun or the rain, it’ll land on anything it comes in contact with.

Enlightenment is simply a path that we all share. Obviously we are all at different points on this spiritual path, so it’s a matter of patience and allowance for others to learn the lessons we’ve already learned. Being a highly spiritual person does not make one any better or different than anyone else, it just means you’re a little further along in the path! :-D
