yoga sutra

Branches or basic yoga
Ancient practitioners have likened yoga to a living tree with six branches from the trunk, each branch having its function own on a particular lifestyle. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is one of six darshan of Hindu or Vedic schools and, alongside the Gita Hatha Yoga and Bhagvada Pradipika, is a milestone in the history of yoga. Although brief, the Yoga Sutras are a work of considerable influence, equally relevant to yoga philosophy and practice today as when written thousands of years.
The six branches of yoga tend to have certain aspects in common and become familiar with the six will certainly help in choosing your own yoga program that incorporates routines that appeal to a six branches. Asanas or postures, pranayama or breath control, these two disciplines together meditation and a strict moral code are the foundations the practice of yoga.
Hatha Yoga
Introduced in the 15th century by an Indian sage as a preparatory stage of physical purification to enable agency be able to practice meditation more than in Raja Yoga, Ha means sun and tha means moon, a reference the body's energy channels. Fully opened energy channels allow the body to become flexible enough to meet the disciplines mental Raja Yoga. In practice, both Hatha and Raja Yoga are closely linked and dependent on each other. Western practitioners associate yoga with the industry to achieve welfare hatha mental and physical.
Raja Yoga
Raja means "royal" and meditation is the heart of this branch of yoga, which has eight side branches or members in an order which must be strictly followed. We start with Yama meaning of ethical standards, Niyama - self-discipline, Asana - posture, pranayama breathing control - pratyahara - sensory withdrawal, dharana - meditation, samadhi - ecstasy or final liberation. Those inclined to introspection or meditation are best suited to Raja yoga.
Although members of religious orders and spiritual communities devote himself to this branch of yoga, you do not embrace a monastic life in gaining the benefits of the practice of Raja Yoga.
Karma Yoga
The basic principle of karma yoga is that what we experience now is created by our past actions, either in this life or a previous one. Once we understand this principle, then we can ensure that all our present actions help create a future free of negativity and selfishness. To practice karma yoga is to lead a life of selfless service to others.
Bhakti Yoga
Bhakti Yoga is the yoga of the heart, a branch of devotion Bhakti is the Sanskrit term for selfless love of God and humanity. Bhakti principles are universal and common to many religions of the world. By following the path of bhakti, we learn to channel our emotions, accept and have tolerance for those who cross our path.
Jnana Yoga
It is the branch of knowledge, the yoga of the mind and is both the hardest and most direct of the six branches. It is the yoga of the mind, wisdom, the path of the sage or scholar. The practitioners of Jnana Yoga develop their intelligence through intensive study, including but not limited to, the yoga tradition and spiritual teachings of others. This is the path that most appeals to the continued practice of yoga intellectuals. As part of our religious traditions Western researchers kabbalistic, Jesuit priests, and Benedictine monks epitomize jnana yogis.
Tantra Yoga
Tantra Sanskrit "Weave" or "business" is the branch of yoga that practices ritual as a way of discovering the divine in all our activities. Probably the worst understood or misinterpreted of all the yogas, tantra, the sixth branch, is the way of a ritual, an in tantric practice, we experience the divine in everything we do. A bow attitude is therefore cultivated, encouraging a ritualistic approach to life. In essence, Tantra is the most esoteric six major branches and appeals to those yogis who enjoy ceremony and relate to the feminine principle of the cosmos, which they call Shakti.
In West, the tantric path of yoga has become associated almost exclusively with sexual activity. It is because of this emphasis on one aspect This branch that has become misinterpreted and misunderstood by many. It is amusing to note that although tantra has become associated exclusively with the ritual sex, most tantric schools actually recommend a way of life in celibacy. The "Kama Sutra" an ancient book of sexual techniques is Hindu Example the best known of the lack of understanding of the true objectives of tantra yoga.
A discipline that leads to an attitude that respects all, even Most Day celebrations of giving and receiving, of birth and death, achievements and failures, and relationships and understanding is a way that will appeal to Westerners who like to be actively involved in celebrations, church going, clubs and associations and other types of ceremonies.
The combination of paths
You do not have to limit yourself to one expression, but can practice hatha yoga, in taking care of your physical body, while cultivating the lifestyle of a Bhakti Yogi, expressing compassion for the people you meet. Whatever avenue of expression Yoga attracts your interest, it will probably be the path of yoga for you.

The Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana $3.99 The Kama Sutra (alternative spellings: Kamasutram or simply Kamasutra), is an ancient Indian text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature written by the Indian scholar Vatsyayana. A portion of the work consists of practical advice on sex. Kama means sensual or sexual pleasure, and sutra are the guidlines of yoga, the word itself means thread in Sanskrit. The Kama Sutra is the oldest and most notable of a group of texts known generically as Kama Shastra (Sanskrit: Kama Shastra). Traditionally, the first transmission of Kama Shastra or "Discipline of Kama" is attributed to Nandi the sacred bull, Shiva's doorkeeper, who was moved to sacred utterance by overhearing the lovemaking of the god and his wife Parvati and later recorded his utterances for the benefit of mankind.Historian John Keay says that the Kama Sutra is a compendium that was collected into its present form in the second century CE.— Excerpted from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. |

Barrett's program includes a series of asanas (postures) that use yoga's combination of movement, breathing, and focus to release sexual power.
