Tips for finding the right yoga teacher
People start yoga for many reasons. They may want to increase their level of health, fitness and flexibility. Or improve their muscle tone. Reduced levels of stress and anxiety are also high on the list, as is personal development, and the desire to follow a more spiritual. Some may have a medical condition or health problem they want addressed.
A good reason to start yoga can affect both the type of yoga that makes a "best fit" and the tutor chosen from a discipline of yoga. While different types of yoga course based on certain goals better than others, Professor you practice with also make a difference to achieving what you want with yoga. Or not.
Foe example, if you have a condition Special medical, it would be preferable to an informal interview prospective yoga teachers in advance. Some make adjustments – where a teacher will use their body weight to help you go further in a position – without really knowing if a person has injuries. And some just do it too overzealously. A student in this situation may be that the 'teacher knows best ". But it is important to listen to your own body and understand all yoga classes are equal. And not all teachers are equal in all areas, whatever.
Some other things to consider when you choose a yoga teacher are:
- Are they dogmatic? Did they push a certain point of view of philosophy or spiritual? Is there a subtle (Or not so subtle) manipulation that implies that without their "guru", your spiritual evolution is fragile. In fact, they suggest that you "need" a guru (their guru) as a "guide" for spirituality, for your own connection with God-God is not good enough. In other words, are they saying that you place your power outside of yourself, or do they remember that you're making your own guide, and can get well on your own means.
- Are they (or senior representatives of their discipline of yoga) worry too much about money, fame, power, the size of their organization or their level of influence? If they (the organization) certifies yoga teachers, how long teachers have to train for? What are they trained and what are they not taught?
- To what extent the teachers embody the qualities spiritual basis of compassion, kindness, peace, joy and serenity? While we are all human beings at different stages of the journey, it is useful to examine a teacher's character and ethics. No need to be perfect, but what are the qualities of themselves, Are they bring to the classroom.
